The learning curve of Photoshop.. Here is a question I kept asking myself over and over:  If you are a photographer/artist should you learn to use layers?.. or neglect those tools calling yourself a purist?.   Personally, I enjoy taking pictures and the editing process that involves giving your images a unique and personal look , adding a special sauce , or whatever you want to call it these days :P .  I do in fact prefer spending more  time behind the camera clicking the shutter and interacting with my subjects, than hours editing images. However sooner or later you realize that you at least need to practice your Photoshop skills to make some of your favorite images or idea visually POP, if you wanna stay creative and competitive. Keep in mind that I said “creative” not “corrective“.  Unfortunately the idea of creating something  unacceptable with the attitude in mind to FIX it later in PS is still existing in some circles.

Just a little over a week ago ,there was a  sand sculpting live demonstration at Navarre Beach Florida, and it was my very first time attending to one of theses shows. This is a small collection of pics from my last visit to Epcot in Disney World, I got to admit , I have a little thing for night time  photography. I don’t know if it  is all the colors and the mood  they bring to pictures, but I do enjoy looking for interesting compositions shortly after dusk .  I wish I had brought a tripod or monopod of  some sort for these shots , since I was struggling a little bit  to get the images sharp enough in camera, but that is where my 5DMkII performed really well, and saved most of this shots . I couldn’t always find a place to lean on, so I jumped the ISO sensitivity from 1600 to 3200 ,to get  more manageable shutter speeds , avoiding camera movement without excessive noise.  I cannot complain I have been very happy with the 5DMkII, since I got it 2 years ago , when i sold my old Minolta maxxum 7 film camera and Mamiya 645E and few lenses… Read the rest of this entry …

Once again, the Air Ballon Festival was scheduled for Fathers day weekend, in Foley ,AL  and I didn’t want to miss it again this year.
