This was the first time I shot with Shaileesha Shrestha, she is from Nepal and we recently got together for some portraits. This was a great opportunity to do more studio work using a simple seamless background paper. Shaileesha brought to her session a couple of Saree garments , very beautiful and colorful fabrics that wrap around the body and are worn by women from India and other countries in South Asia. For this session I used a combination of different light setups (one – three lights) , a Deep Octa soft box as the main light source and a gray background paper, which it was blown out with light in some shots to obtain the white background look. Thank you again to Shaileesha for allowing me to be creative during her session and being a good sport!

Recently I have been shooting more with natural light than with strobes. I love strobes ,speed lights and using light modifiers but not always I feel in the mood to carry all that stuff around with me or setting everything up with lightstands, unless I have an assistant with me or the shot really requires it. So lately I have been using the best possible available light and some large reflectors to bounce the light back to the subject and avoid harsh shadows. Here are some pics with Yulia , just using natural light during her session… Read the rest of this entry …

I Love meeting interesting people ,especially when they share in common some kind of artistic lifestyle .. You can always tell when you engage in a conversation with someone, how passionate and dedicated they are for that thing they do: a profession, hobby, or an special activity that makes them feel complete and give their life a true meaning. Agustina Dezeo, fits that description. She is a contemporary dancer from Argentina ,whom I had the pleasure to meet recently and got together for her photo session on Destin Beach ,Florida. She started dancing at a very young age, and has been performing on stage in Argentine theaters for several years delighting the viewers with her natural talent.
We had an amazing time during her photo session ,and despite the fact that the weather conditions were not the best , we still made it work for us, but I coudn’t have done it as well as we did, without the support of the team from that day: Gerardo Patiño and Adrian Alegre were really awesome during the behind the scenes shots ( we also put the little Fuji x10 to the test that morning, with the BTS photos & video images) and big thanks to Adrian assisting carrying the lighting grip…( more like “running & carrying the light” and getting his shoes wet!…
. I must say Keeping up with Agustina agility was not an easy task
but it was all worth it in the end! (… she really owned the beach with her awesome air jumps!!). It was an unforgettable experience, indeed!… Read the rest of this entry …
Light is a powerful tool, natural or strobe light, if you use it well . It can be used as a language to express a mood or to tell a story. Today, as I was going through my personal library and viewing some of my earlier shots of 2011, I bumped into this first image of Misha taken several months ago. I remember finding this wooden location near the local beach . Here I wanted to overpower the sun shooting late in the afternoon and setting up my strobe at full power to get a more dramatic look. After doing some in camera manual adjustments to get the correct exposure ,and color adjustment in post, the picture turned out interesting enough to share….. Read the rest of this entry …

I had a great time taking pictures for these girls last week, we met really early that day on the beach, and started the session with some beach portraits before it got really hot! ..Go to love the Gulf Coast!! We saw many other people getting their portraits done on the same location that day ,too …very typical this time of the year ,lots of people enjoying our white sand beaches and some family time.! But we didn’t want to end the shoot at the beach and later we moved to a different location for some other looks using off camera lighting (see slideshow above , fullscreen↔) , overall we had some great shots ,lots of fun , and great lovely energy from Kayla and Alexis throughout the shoot. Thank you girls!….. Here are the pics! Read the rest of this entry …
